In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Month, Alumni and @converse have teamed up to highlight some of our favorite Asian-owned restaurants showcasing cuisines from Tibet, Vietnam, India, Philippines, and Thailand.
For our first highlight, we present Saigon Social @saigonsocialnyc founded by Helen Nguyen. After a decade in real estate and sales, Helen Nguyen moved to New York to chase her passion for food. She trained at the Institute of Culinary Education with an apprenticeship with Chef Nicolas Abello, helping his restaurant L’Appart to achieve its first Michelin star. While her background is in classic French cooking, her heart is in Vietnamese comfort food. She opened her own restaurant Saigon Social in 2019 sharing her skills and passion with New York.
